When using the Pretender app, the following data may be collected:

• Device ID: A unique identifier generated for your device to enable online multiplayer functionality
• Player Name: A display name that you choose when joining a game session
• Game Data: Information related to your gameplay, including room codes, game phase, and hints submitted during games

We do NOT collect:

• Email addresses or phone numbers
• Physical location data
• Usage analytics or tracking data
• Payment information (all purchases are handled directly by Apple App Store)

2. Backend Services & Data Storage

The Pretender uses Convex as its backend service to enable online multiplayer functionality. Convex provides secure, real-time data synchronization for game sessions.

Data Stored on Convex Servers

The following data is temporarily stored on Convex servers during active game sessions:

• Room Information: Room codes, game phase, game settings, and current turn information
• Player Information: Player names, device IDs, host status, connection status, and voting status
• Game Content: Secret words, categories, and hints submitted by players during gameplay

3. Local Data Storage

The app stores certain data locally on your device using AsyncStorage:

• Device ID: A unique identifier for your device (used for online multiplayer)
• Player Name: Your preferred player name for quick joining of games
• App Launch Count: Used to determine when to prompt for App Store reviews
• Review Status: Whether you have already been prompted for a review

This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers except for the Device ID and Player Name which are necessary for online multiplayer functionality.

• Convex: As described above, Convex acts as our data processor for online multiplayer functionality
